TB Patient Meetings
One such meeting was held in Thakkar Bappa Colony, known for the presence of leather workers where TB is highly prevalent. LSS has brought many patients under treatment but their conditions of living are so bad that at least one member per household is infected. Hence a meeting was held to explain to the residents the need for getting tested at the earliest. As the leather business is low during the monsoons many families leave the area and go home as they do not have the income to sustain themselves during these lean months. Unfortunately this leads to patients defaulting on treatment and soon becoming resistant to the DOT Treatment which is detrimental to their health. LSS has tried to solve this problem by providing nutritional supplements to such families in order that they may complete their treatment and thus prevent the spread of the disease. LSS welcomes donations of food grains, eggs and milk powder for such families.
